COUSINEAU BRAND
Artist Statement | Branding | Satire
COUSINEAU is a fake fashion company that was created as a statement about contemporary branding practices. COUSINEAU promotes a brand personality to sell “The Trash Life”; a lifestyle of elite wealth and beauty that you can only achieve through purchase of the products. Additionally, COUSINEAU claims it’s Eco-Advanced, a nonsense word I created to further the parody of it being an environmentally beneficial product line. The brand exploits consumer insecurities and environmental guilt to create profit. While entirely fictional, COUSINEAU was an opportunity for me to explore branding through art, humor, and showmanship to create a powerful artist’s statement.
